Application

Kiilto Fibergum is a ready-to-use fiber-reinforced waterproofing mast that is installed under the wall and floor tiles of bathrooms, saunas, etc. in damp rooms. Not suitable for use in places that are constantly under water (for example, swimming pools) or when the temperature rises above +60 °C (for example, the walls of the sauna steam room). The substrate must be dry, absorbent, dust-free and flat. All materials that impair adhesion must be removed. Check the suitability of the structure and the substrate for the installation of waterproofing and tiles. Underfloor heating must be installed in the concrete or floor screed under the waterproofing mastic so that it does not come into direct contact with the waterproofing. The compatibility of Kiilto Fibergum with the most common types of floor stairs has been tested and approved. You can consult our technical support or the floor ladder supplier to check suitability.

Instructions for use

WALLS: Sand uneven surfaces and level the wet room with suitable Kiilto wall putty. Dry and absorbent wall surfaces must be primed with Kiilto Fibergum Primer adhesive dispersion according to the instructions before applying the waterproofing mastic.

The waterproofing mastic must always be mixed before use. First apply Fibergum to vertical wall corners, screw heads, building boards and other joints and joints. Immediately press the Kiilto corner reinforcement tape or the finished corner piece onto the fresh layer of Fibergum and cover it again with waterproofing mastic. Make sure the reinforcement fabric is completely soaked.
For the pipe grommets, a reinforcement piece of approx. 10 × 10 cm must be cut from the reinforcing fabric and a hole in the middle of it, the diameter of which is approx. 4 mm smaller than the outer diameter of the grommet. As an alternative, Kiilto ready-made grommet reinforcement pieces can be used. Press the grommet reinforcement piece onto the fresh waterproofing mastic, making sure it is thoroughly wetted. Grooves and vertical and horizontal joints can be sealed with Kiilto XPU sealing compound instead of corner tapes before applying Fibergum. Apply Fibergum with a roller to the entire surface to be waterproofed and let it dry for approx. 2 h (color change). Apply a second layer of Fibergum to the surface and let it dry for at least 6 h (color change). Check the thickness of the waterproofing layer and add mastic to thin and/or porous areas and allow to dry. The wall waterproofing layer must be at least 0.4 mm thick.

Start tiling the wall from the second row, at least 10 cm above the floor. Install wall tiles with Kiilto tile mix. After the tile mixture has dried, joint the tiles with Kiilto joint filler and use Kiilto sanitary silicone to seal vertical corners and grommets.

FLOORS: Sand uneven sub-surfaces and level the wet room with the appropriate Kiilto floor leveling compound. Before waterproofing, prime the dry substrate with Kiilto Fibergum Primer adhesive dispersion according to the instructions. Before applying waterproofing, the primer must be dry.

The waterproofing mastic must always be mixed before use. Apply Kiilto Fibergum to the horizontal corners and around the grommets and immediately press the Kiilto corner reinforcement tape or the finished corner piece onto the fresh waterproofing mastic. Apply a layer of Fibergum to the reinforcement tape and ensure that the reinforcement tape is thoroughly soaked.

In the inner and outer corners, Kiilto's ready-made inner and outer corner pieces can be used as an alternative. Grooves and wall-to-floor joints can also be sealed with Kiilto XPU sealing compound before applying Fibergum.

Before waterproofing, place the Kiilto Self-Adhesive Staircase Reinforcement piece over the stairs, on the previously primed surface, and rub it carefully. Apply Fibergum to the reinforcement fabric around the edges of the tread reinforcement piece with a brush. Kiilto Floor Reinforcement Pieces (2 pcs) can also be used: place a tread reinforcement piece on the floor and apply Fibergum to it, then place another tread reinforcement piece on it and also brush over with Fibergum. Cut a circle above the trapezoid, approx. A hole smaller than the inner diameter of the 60 mm trap. Carefully push the tension belt into place. Apply a layer of Fibergum to the entire floor surface to be insulated. Allow to dry approx. 2 hours (color change). Apply a second coat of Fibergum to the surface of the risers and floor and allow to dry for at least 6 hours (discoloration). Check the thickness of the waterproofing layer and apply mastic to thin and/or porous areas and allow to dry. The thickness of the waterproofing layer on the floors must be at least 0.5 mm. Fix the floor tiles with Kiilto tiling compound. Joint the tiles with Kiilto joint filler. Seal vertical and horizontal corners and penetrations with Kiilto Sanitary Silicone.
